About us
We started in 2009 with a simple goal: make the Internet a better place for its users. Today, AdGuard builds software that blocks ads, stops trackers, and protects your privacy — on every device and in every browser
We are independent, funded entirely by our users — not advertisers. Headquartered in Limassol, Cyprus, we operate under the EU privacy laws and are fully GDPR-compliant
Working since 2009
160+ million worldwide users across all products20+ products and services

Our approach
- Open-source at heart. Transparency is non-negotiable. Our code is open for inspection
- User feedback is crucial. Our decisions are shaped by the people who use our products
- Privacy is our starting point. We design every product to minimize data collection — gathering only what’s strictly necessary to deliver the service
Our story
- 2009 — AdGuard Ad Blocker. We release the first version of our ad blocker and expand it across all major platforms
- 2016 — AdGuard DNS. We launch a free public DNS service to block ads and trackers at the network level on any device
- 2018 — AdGuard Home. We introduce a network-wide solution for blocking ads and tracking, turning it into one of the most popular privacy projects on GitHub
- 2020 — AdGuard VPN. We expand beyond ad blocking into full traffic encryption with our fast, proprietary protocol — which we open-source in 2026
- 2024 — AdGuard Temp Mail and AdGuard Mail. We roll out privacy-first email solutions designed to shield your inbox from spam and phishing
- 2025 — TrustTunnel. We release a dedicated app for our open-source tunneling protocol built for high-speed, censorship-resistant connections
- 2026 — AdGuard Wallet. We introduce a secure, non-custodial crypto wallet built to safely keep and manage Web3 assets
Research
For many years, we co-host the Ad-Filtering Dev Summit, the industry’s flagship event for ad-blocking developers. Our engineers shape the conversation across the community
TrustTunnel, our VPN protocol, is open-source: inspect it, use it, or build on it
We're also actively researching AI to move ad blocking beyond traditional filter lists
An in-house research and development team drives it all: tracking threats, publishing insights, and building what’s next
Blogs
We share our insights on several platforms, including our main blog, the DNS and VPN hubs, and the TechTok Q&A series. Our content covers product updates, technical research, and industry analysis. It serves as a reference point for privacy and ad blocking and is read by users, journalists, and industry peers alike
