How aliases work

Create your alias

Just click Create alias in the app, choose a name, and add a short reminder of where you want to use it

Link the alias to your address

Assign the created alias to your email address, the recipient. This way, AdGuard Mail will know where to forward emails sent to this alias

Use the alias to get emails

Use the configured alias to receive emails without revealing your personal email address to senders. Emails sent to the alias will be forwarded to you. And if you no longer want to receive them, simply disable the alias

FAQ

Aliases and recipients

  • An alias is a forwarding email address. All emails sent to it will be forwarded to your primary mailbox via our free email forwarding service

  • A recipient is your personal email address to which aliases forward emails. You can link multiple aliases to a recipient and multiple recipients to an alias.

  • Yes, aliases forward emails with attachments.

  • For now, you can’t reply to emails forwarded by your aliases. To send a reply, you can forward the message to the original sender. But please note that this will reveal your personal email address.

  • Simply disable the compromised alias by clicking Disable in the alias menu. Emails sent to it won't be forwarded anywhere.

Temporary email addresses

  • A temporary email address doesn’t forward emails. Messages sent to this address appear in your inbox in the AdGuard Mail app. A temporary email address is perfect for one-time interactions, such as receiving a promo code or signing up for a trial. After receiving the desired message, you can generate a new email address. This will delete the previous email address and its inbox, and you won’t receive any follow-up emails.
    An alias is a forwarding email address. Messages sent to it are forwarded to your primary mailbox, called the recipient. To read and manage such messages, go to your primary email service. Deleting or disabling an alias does not delete the messages that have already been forwarded to your primary mailbox. Also, if you reenable an alias, you will continue to receive messages sent to that alias.

  • Temporary email addresses are used only to receive emails. You can’t reply to or forward these messages. If you want to share them with someone, download them in EML format and then send them to anyone from your personal email address.

  • You can’t recover deleted messages. Be sure to write down any important information before you delete an email.

  • No, you can only delete them manually. To delete an address, click the dice icon.

  • No, temporary email addresses don’t accept attachments. If you’re expecting emails with attachments, use an alias instead. Our email alias service supports messages with attachments.

  • It will be deleted along with its inbox, and you won’t be able to recover it. Be sure to check your temporary inbox for important messages before you click the dice icon.

General questions

  • Yes, they are. We don’t have access to your messages. Plus, we use secure SMTP connections whenever possible to protect your emails from unauthorized access. You can check out our Privacy policy and EULA for more information.

  • Yes, all features are free during the beta period. We plan to add paid features and customization options in the future.
