Aliases and recipients

  • An alias is a forwarding email address. All emails sent to it will be forwarded to your primary mailbox.
  • An alias domain is the part of an alias address that comes after the @ symbol. During the beta phase, we offer only one alias domain.
  • A recipient is your personal email address to which aliases forward emails. You can link multiple aliases to a recipient and multiple recipients to an alias.
  • Subaddressing is adding a tag to your email address. An email address with subaddressing can look like this: alias+tag@adguardmail.com.
You can use subaddressing to make it easier to find emails in your inbox. For example, you can search for your alias+tag@adguardmail.com by using +tag@adguardmail.com. Some email clients also allow creating filters for such tags.
  • Your limits during the beta period:
    1 recipient
    10 aliases
After you reach these limits, you can use our one-time offer and increase your limits:
    5 recipients
    50 aliases
  • You can create a different alias for each category or even website. This way, you can disable an alias to stop receiving emails from a particular service without affecting other services. To make managing aliases easier, you can include the names of these services or categories in the alias names.
  • Yes, aliases forward emails with attachments.
  • For now, you can’t reply to emails forwarded by your aliases. To send a reply, you can forward the message to the original sender. But please note that this will reveal your personal email address.
  • To stop forwarding, you can disable the alias. Emails sent to it won’t be forwarded anywhere. To disable an alias, click Disable in the alias menu.
  • A deleted alias cannot be restored. Emails sent to it won’t be forwarded anywhere.
If you want to temporarily stop email forwarding, you can disable the alias instead of deleting it.
  • Important: do not mark forwarded emails as spam. This can negatively affect the service for all users. After 4 spam reports, we will permanently disable your aliases.
If you mark an email as spam, we’ll block its initial sender. You can view blocked senders in Settings.
  • If you click Block this sender in the email header, your alias will stop forwarding emails from this sender. To unblock it, go to Settings → Blocked senders and click Unblock.
Note that you can’t use this method to unblock a sender you’ve marked as spam in a third-party email service. To unblock it, go to your email service and try one of the following:
Open your spam folder and remove the sender’s email from spam
Open email service settings, find your blocked senders, and unblock the desired sender
  • When you remove a recipient, its aliases will be automatically unlinked and will no longer forward emails. You can disable these aliases or link them to another recipient.
If you plan to use a recipient in the future, you can click Unlink all aliases to stop email forwarding. When you resume forwarding to that recipient, you won’t have to confirm its email address again.
  • AdGuard Mail needs at least one confirmed recipient. To remove such a recipient, add another one and confirm it.
To completely delete your user data with us, you can delete your AdGuard account.
  • Sometimes websites don’t accept unknown email domains. In rare cases, the alias domain may be blocked.
If your alias isn’t accepted, please contact our support team via Report a bug or at support@adguard-mail.com. We will investigate and update the domain if necessary.
  • You’ve probably reported 4 emails from our aliases as spam. AdGuard Mail doesn’t allow multiple spam reports because it can negatively affect the service for all users.
Your aliases have been disabled, forwarding has been permanently stopped. You can’t manage your aliases, recipients, or blocked senders.
